New collaboration with a focus on NetZero
Aratellus, provider of subsea geotechnical and trenching services, partners with Sulmara to offer a fully integrated site characterisation solution.
Aratellus has signed a collaboration agreement with Sulmara to improve the coordination of geophysical and geotechnical investigations in the offshore energy sector with a focus of reducing project carbon footprint and overall cost.
Sulmara and Aratellus are both driven by innovation with a focus on using new technology to enhance the efficiency of site characterisation. This collaboration combined with the revolutionary surface and subsea systems provides our clients with a competitive and robust alternative to traditional service offerings.
The agreement allows a turn-key solution that combines Aratellus’ subsea drill (SWORD) and Sulmara’s force multiplier USVs and new seismic solutions to be delivered on a global scale. One of the key differentiators between Aratellus SWORD and its competitors is that it incorporates sonic drilling technology into a remote seafloor sampling tool, this key feature allows for faster more accurate drilling, while drilling at the seabed reduces downtime forced on traditional geotechnical drill ships by adverse sea conditions, ultimately SWORD reduces project timelines. Sulmara’s commitment and ongoing investment in widening the application of USV’s and remote applications in site characterisation is also driving down project execution, costs and impact on the environment.
This agreement provides clients with a unique single interface for their combined geophysical and geotechnical solutions, whilst minimising carbon footprint and lowering project cost.
Commenting on the development, Sulmara Subsea CEO Kevin McBarron said: “By engaging in this collaboration, it’s another demonstration of Sulmara believing that partnership in innovation can help reduce project costs and carbon emissions”
Aratellus CEO, Steven Gray added: “Sulmara and Aratellus are aligned in our ambition to transform how the energy services industry delivers on NetZero, this collaboration reinforces our joint commitment to that goal.”
